What Is a Fender Bender?

A fender bender is typically a minor accident between two vehicles. Usually, this type of accident is caused by getting rear-ended at slower speeds, being hit by a distracted driver, or even tapping into a car when you are backing out of a parking space. It could result in little damage or major damage. However, damages are typically sustained to either the front or rear of the vehicle and are nothing we can’t fix. Our professional mechanics are well versed in the processes and procedures that go into fixing a fender bender accident and thus if this sort of accident ever happens to you, you can trust that Rally Motors will take care of you.

What To Do After You've Been in a Fender Bender Accident

Even though the majority of the time, accidents such as these do not cause serious injuries, they can still be extremely stressful to all parties involved. Not only do you have to deal with the police at the scene of the incident, but you also have to deal with gathering insurance information, reports, the DMV, etc. We’d like to help in more ways than just being the team that does the repairs, so here’s a list of things you should do immediately following the aftermath of your collision.

Stay calm. While you may be in shock over what just happened, it’s important to remain calm and ensure that you or any passengers in your vehicle are not seriously injured.

Call the police. Regardless of the damage, you should always call the police so you have on record exactly what happened. Any accident reports written by the police can help you when you speak to your insurance company and aid in the repair process.

Get the other drivers information. If it is safe for you to get out of your vehicle, speak with the other driver involved and make sure to get all appropriate information including their full name, address, phone number, car insurance info, and policy numbers.

Take photos. Take as many photos of the incident as you can. The more photos you have, the easier it is for the insurance companies to gather information. Make sure to get license plate info, the make and model of the car, and any other helpful photos of the scene.

Call your insurance company. Calling your car insurance company to report the accident as it will be helpful when it comes time to pay for damages. They can also help you determine your next steps.

Monitor yourself. After the initial accident, you likely have adrenaline rushing through you which can mask symptoms of more serious injuries. In the days following the accident, pay attention to any other signs something more serious could be happening. It is also significant to note that when it comes to bruising, it tends to take some days before it shows up.
